Bacn, the word coined at Pittsburgh PodCamp 2 and first blogged about here on TechBurgh is one of the runners up for the Oxford University Press Word of the year.

Bacn joins the likes of cloudware, cougar, mumblecore, tase and upcycling in not quite making it having enough of a cultural impact.
There is hope though, the chosen word was coined two years ago. Bacn isn’t a year old yet.

Keep using it people 🙂

What is the word of the year? Locavore (<sigh>)
According to the press release:

"The "Locavore" movement encourages consumers to buy from farmers’ markets or even to grow or pick their own food, arguing that fresh, local products are more nutritious and taste better.
Locavores also shun supermarket offerings as an environmentally friendly measure, since shipping food over long distances often requires more fuel for transportation."

I can’t help but think that the choice is playing a lot into the currently green, environmentally friendly thing that is going on right now.
