Jeff Chandler raises a point in the Performancing Blog, stating that asking for link exchanges doesn’t work any more. He goes on to claim that emailing bloggers and asking them to post a link to yoour blog is a waste of time.
Jeff suggests that you guest post and put your link in said post.

Yes, guest posts are wonderful, I love ‘em and they are a great way to build traffic and reputation.
Yes, emailing others and asking for link exchanges has been done for the past 5 years.
No, I don’t think it’s a waste of time though!
