How do you explain readers and RSS?

It’s not easy to explain RSS and RSS Readers to people who have no idea what they are.

Do you have a favorite method or analogy?

Good has published a wonderful video explaining Google Reader (my RSS Reader of choice) and pretty much what you need to know about RSS.

It’s an excellent way to get started in RSS, I use my reader all day, every day and this video reminded me of a couple of thing I had forgotten it can do.
