According to a Domain Name Industry Brief, recently published by VeriSign there were more than 24 million new domain names added to the Internet in 2008. (wow!)

This makes a total of more than 177 million domains, up 16% since 2007.  This number covers all available Top Level Domains (TLDs)

.Com and .Net domains alone have more than 90 million registrations which is an increase of 16% on numbers from 2007.

177 million domains! that’s crazy!
