imageOn our house we have a TV, DVD, Digital cable box and a (rarely used VCR) and a remote for each. There’s even a remote for our air conditioner.

Admittedly, it’s not as many remotes as other people have but it is still an inconvenience when watching a DVD and having to control the sound on the TV and the DVD playback with two different remotes.

The Comcast remote does do the bulk of the work but, when hitting the ‘all on’ button it turns on the TV and digital cable box individually, sometimes it misses the TV and the whole thing gets confusing.

This is why I was excited to learn about the new Yamaha neoHD, according to Yamaha it’s “one remote, complete control, immersive sound and endless enjoyment”.

If you look at the remote you’ll see wonder how on earth something so simple can control so much. It’s certainly not like any of the other ‘all in one’ remotes that you’ve seen.

The difference with the Yamaha neoHD system is an entertainment system that takes care of the remote stuff for you.

Essentially the Yamaha neoHD system is a menu driven computer type system dedicated to your entertainment system. Turn it on and it asks you what you want to do “Watch, listen, game” etc. It’s a Media Controller.

The price for the neoHD systems start at around $600, which isn’t bad for what is essentially a computer that does a whole lot more (it’ll even control your iPod).
