For some time now there has been 
monthly, subscription based, sample boxes for women (see Birchbox). Essentially pay about $20 per month and each month you get, via the postal mail, actual samples and little gifts and goodies. This is all well and good, I’ve seen a number of my Twitter followers talking about and comparing their boxes when they arrive, but what about us guys?
ok, so there is a Birchbox for men currently in Beta. Allow me to correct myself and ask “what about the geeky, nerdy guys who don’t do “grooming and lifestyle”?”
In comes Loot Crate – similarly to Birchbox etc. for just less than $20 ($13.37 + $6 shipping) per month you get a box of Geek and/or Gamer goodies.
6 – 8 products, all adding up to about $40 per box.
Also – each month a Loot Crate subscriber has the chance to win a $300+ Megacrate.
According to Loot Crate each monthly box will be filled with snacks, apparel, collectibles, swag, and more.
It’s brand new, just launching – here’s your chance to get in on a good thing – and it does sound like a good thing, hoping the fine people at Loot Crate can make it work.
The idea is that they partner with companies to pretty much ship out cool stuff, collectible stuff and promotional stuff to people like…. well… me.

The first boxes are due to ship towards the end of August. I signed up, I know a couple of my friends did. I’ll get a post up as soon as I get it and let you know what I got.
I can imagine it would be nice to see a little ‘gift’ like this on your doorstep every month, completely unaware of the contents.
