Pittsburgh, Pa. — This summer, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens invites Pittsburghers to savor the best of the season at two new events to be held in the Outdoor Garden, a beautiful natural space filled with flowering perennials, aromatic herbs and lovely shade-giving trees. Against this romantic backdrop, Floral Notes: Jazz in the Garden, an evening of live music, will be held onJune 18, followed by Garden Variety: A Farm to Phipps Dinner, a local food adventure, on July 21, 2013.
Featuring performances by the Elevations and Velvet Heat from 6:30 – 9 p.m., Floral Notes offers the perfect mid-week escape — a chance for guests to unwind with house-made sangria and spritzers, plus a delectable assortment of small bites. This special event, open to guests 21 and older, costs $41.99 for Phipps members and $49.99 for nonmembers. Registration is required by June 11.
Presented by Café Phipps Executive Chef Stephanie Gelberd and some of the region’s finest food artisans and producers, Garden Variety, a rustic yet elegant multiple-course dinner served out in the open air, highlights only the freshest handpicked selections from Greater Pittsburgh area farms. Held from 6:30 – 9 p.m. in celebration of the connection between the fertile land that surrounds us and the culinary delights it provides, this local foodie experience is not to be missed! The cost to attend is $150 for Phipps members and $175 for nonmembers. Registration is required by July 12.
