Pittsburgh, Pa.—On Dec. 4, 5 and 6, 2014, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will host its annual Gifts and Greens Market at Phipps Garden Center in Mellon Park, providing a large assortment of fresh, aromatic specialty greens for “decking the halls” and one-of-a-kind wreaths made to order. The Shop in the Park will also be open for holiday shopping, and a variety of guest vendors will be on site until 3 p.m. on each day of the sale. Free and open to the public, the market will be held from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday.

From incense cedar and magnolia branches to pepperberry and eucalyptus, some of the most unique and high-quality greens to be found anywhere in Pittsburgh, in addition to many traditional favorites, will be up for sale at the Gifts and Greens Market. Shoppers can choose from a variety of pre-made wreaths, garlands, swags and door charms, or make selections from a beautiful collection of ribbons and ornaments for a custom piece made by Phipps’ expert design team. One hundred percent of the proceeds will support Conservatory education and outreach programs.
Complementing the greens sale is a holiday boutique showcasing not only festive decorations, paperwhite bulbs, amaryllis kits and more from The Shop in the Park but also special items for nature-lovers of all ages from The Shop at Phipps in Schenley Park. Offering everything from natural beauty products to terrariums, Artemis Botanicals Bath Shop, Flower and Bee, greenSinner and Urban Baroque will be selling wares to round out the experience, as well — all in a cheerful, low-stress atmosphere. The Gifts and Greens Market is the perfect place to beat the crowds of conventional malls and shopping centers, and keep purchases local, too.
Other upcoming holiday events hosted by Phipps include: Winter Flower Show and Winter Light Garden (Nov. 28-Jan. 11); Santa Visits (Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 29-Dec. 20, plus Nov. 28 and Dec. 1); Candlelight Evenings (Nov. 28-Jan. 11); Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes (Nov. 21); Saturdays with the Sugar Plum Fairy (Dec. 6 and 13); Family Fun Days (Dec. 26-30); and the New Year’s Eve Family Celebration (Dec. 31).
