Power Tek Fire Talon Multi-tool Pocket Knife

I carry a multitool.  Every day, everywhere I can.
I’d be lost without it. It’s my emergency thing, it’s my technical tool kit, it opens packages, it measures, it levels, it hammers.
I could go on all day.

Seriously. It goes everywhere. I’ve found multitools to be invaluable in daily life, and in emergency services, too.

Power Tek was kind enough to send mPower Tek Fire Talon Multi-tool Pocket Knifee their Fire Talon Multi tool to take a look at.

I’ve upgraded. This is all I carry now, and already I’ve been using it quite a bit.

What’s different to other multitools?  The Fire Talon might not be as feature rich as some other tools – it really doesn’t need to be. I mean, how often do you use the magnifying glass you carry on your belt. 4 different screwdrivers?

The Fire Talon is built to be used. It is ergonomic and user friendly. It’s not all metal (black oxide stainless steel), there are rubber inlays to help with grip and handling.

You don’t have to open the tool to access the knife (use most, right?), or any of the other tools. They’re right there when you need them.

The pliers are sprung open by default, so that you don’t have to open them to wrap them around what you need to. This is a great feature.

The knife is….substantial….with a serrated lower edge to it.

Best of all, and what sets the Fire Talon apart from other tools is that is has two flashlights.
One light for the pliers, and one for the knife. Both LED lights positioned so that you can see what you’re cutting, or…. pliering.
Hit the button for each, or to turn the light off.
The rubber button is easy to find in the dark, too. It is rounded and set away from the other rubber grips.

While the tool is a decent weight, it’s not unwieldy. Only 3 inches and 9.8 ounces.

It’s a very cool, slick looking tool. It’s handy and not a bad price either (around $35).

Of course, because of the batteries for the lights, it’s not entirely water resistant, so don’t go dropping it in your pool.

I like it though.
