Fellow blogger, Adam Finley, a blogger on TV Squad (sister site to Engadget), passed away last week after being involved in a bicycle accident.
Adam wasn’t carrying any identification at the time of the accident however, he did have his iPod on him.
Crash investigators were able to take the iPod to the local Apple store where employees contacted the corporate security department and they an the serial number of the device and connected it to Adam through the registration database.
