Police in Kiev, Ukraine have raided and shut down Pornolab.net; possibly one of the largest adult bit torrent sites in the World.
Kiev authorities reportedly raided the sites datacenter and shut down its servers for copyright infringement, which wasn’t the original complaint. The original complaint was for the unlawful distribution of porn.
Of course this raid leaves the more than 2 million Pornolab members high and dry.
It hasn’t been a good couple of years for Pornolab and their partners. In early 2010 their sister site, Torrent.ru had its domain seized by authorities also in a copyright infringement action.
The Ukraine used to be something of haven for Torrent sites operating outside of US and other International law, however since 2010 it seems that local authorities there are not only going after the companies but individuals in the Ukraine too, citing them for automatically downloading and distributing restricted materials.
