Confluent Translations, LLC announced it has received its ISO 9001:2008 Certificate of Registration FS 567974 from BSI Group America Inc., an internationally recognized registrar, who for more than 100 years has led the way in the development of quality standards.

“I am so proud of our employees, five of whom participated in Internal TQMS Audit Training to ISO 19011. I also participated in the training and received the status of Lead Auditor,” stated Charlene Nagy, CEO of Confluent. “Regular management meetings, continual improvement meetings and internal audits are an important part of the on-going process.” Nagy continued, “This is a huge differentiating factor from other translation agencies that do not go this extra step. We are living ISO 9001 through the eyes of an auditor everyday and not just for the 3rd party audits that happen once a year.”

ISO 9001:2008 is an internationally-recognized standard issued to organizations with a quality management system. It provides a set of requirements that must be in place, regardless of the organization’s size, product or service line, or public or private status. Certification to the standard is voluntary and organizations must complete a rigorous auditing process by a third-party registrar yearly.

Confluent’s processes were defined and developed to enable strict quality assurance and continual improvements as required by ISO standards along with flexibility. “We realized that the value to our clients is focusing on their individual needs. We serve many different industries requiring various types of material and a wide range of translation services. We also realized few translation companies, who were ISO 9001 certified, saw the need for that flexibility,” commented Nagy.

“We’ve been asked why we would take the extra time and effort to become ISO 9001 certified and have internal auditor training.  It was mainly for the increasing number of prospects that felt they were being forced into the translation vendor’s quality system. Feeling helpless with a limited number of ISO 9001 translation services that did not mesh well with their own QMS alerted us to make sure we were still able to adapt to our clients system while staying true to our own,” continued Nagy.

“Even more alarming we heard of instances where turnaround time for one sentence was two weeks, despite being ISO 9001 certified major mistakes were still being made in translations, and they were receiving a poor response from their translation service provider. It was only through our training did we realize that just having an ISO 9001 certificate was not enough and how companies could cheat the very system meant to insure quality. I did not want our clients feeling they were drifting out to sea or paddling an ocean liner with an oar,”

A copy of the certificate can be found on the Confluent Web site.
