It’s that time of year again – yeah Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. etc that too but as well as all the Holidays it is the time when Mr. Anthony Walker (AKA Chachi) hosts a great fundraiser for a great cause.

This will be the 2nd Chachi Plays for Kids fundraiser. The 24 hour video game marathon raises money to benefit two Pittsburgh causes – Pittsburgh’s Toonseum , to start an art program for at risk youth in the community, and partly for the Father Ryan Art Center in Mckees Rocks.

Art benefiting Art.

I happen to know Anthony personally and in my humble opinion he’s a pretty decent guy.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Back for its second installment, Chachi Plays for Kids is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012. The money raised by this year’s 24-hour video game marathon will benefit two local causes. Part of the money will be given to Pittsburgh’s Toonseum, and will be used to start an art program for at risk youth within the community, and the rest will help to support the Father Ryan Art Center in McKees Rocks.

Chachi Plays for Kids will be held at the Toonseum from 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11. The gaming schedule will be announced soon on the event’s official website, www.chachiplays.com, and is anticipated to be filled with a variety of games again this year.

Chachi Plays for Kids started out of Anthony “Chachi” Walker’s interest in giving something back to his community. During the inaugural event held this past February, Mr. Walker raised $3,007.79, all of which was donated to the Mario Lemieux Foundation as part of the Make Room for Kids fundraiser.

“I just wanted to do something to give back to the community,” said Walker. “There are plenty of kids out there who don’t really get a childhood, either due to economic or societal situations they’re in. If I can give those kids an opportunity to be a kid, that’s what I’d like to do.”

The idea for a video game marathon came from Child’s Play (www.childsplaycharity.org). Mr. Walker realized it was the perfect opportunity for him to give back to his community. “It’s a great feeling at the end of the day to know that I was able to help make some kid’s day a little better,” noted Walker.

This year’s sponsors of the event include the Toonseum (www.toonseum.org) and Sorgatron Media (www.sorgatronmedia.com).
