iPhone 4s

Photo via Apple

The iPhone 4S is the newest in the line of Smart Phones from Apple.  With a more squared design, faster processor and the much anticipated SIRI, this is a phone that has every Apple fan say where can I get mine. Does this phone hold up to an Android loyalist? Continue reading to find out.

First off I feel I should start off with a disclaimer. I HATE Apple. I haven’t liked them since the Apple IIe in elementary school. With that being said, I’m actually quite impressed with this phone. The screen is a little small for me, but all in all an excellent phone. Let’s find out why.

DESIGN

The iPhone 4S has a more squared off shape as compared to the 3 and 3GS. The front and back panel’s are either black or white depending on which version you buy. The sides are a aluminium/steel color and add a nice touch. All the buttons are raised to make them easy to use.

SCREEN

The screen on the iPhone 4s is a 3.5in Retina display. This is the only screen I have found on a phone so far that is comparable if not the same quality as the SAMOLED screens.  The screen has a 960 x 640 resolution and an 800:1 contrast ratio. The display is also multi-touch capable.

Like I have said already the screen is amazing. Pictures are clear; movies are great to watch also. Now I can see part of why people like these phones as much as they do.

CAMERA

The iPhone 4S has an 8MP, auto-focus camera with a LED flash. There is tap to focus and also facial detection. You can record video in 1080p HD at up to 30 frames per second. There is a front facing camera capable of VGA quality photos and also video chat with Face Time or other 3RD party apps.

The 4S takes great pictures and video.  Pocket sized this phone makes a great replacement for both your camera and camcorder.

BATTERY LIFE

The iPhone 4S has a 1432mAh battery that is good for 8 hours talk time on 3G and up to 200 hours on standby.  I know its apples to oranges (pun intended) but you can’t beat the battery life on this phone.  Compare it to 6.7 hours on the HTC Rezound and 7.5 hours for the Casio G’Zone.

HORSEPOWER

The iPhone 4S is powered by a dual core A5 processor running at 1GHz. This keeps the app’s running smoothly and without any lag.  There is 512MB or RAM, and depending on what model you buy, either 16, 32, or 64 GB of Memory.

PERSONAL ASSISTANT

Siri, that’s all I need to say. Siri is the personal assistant in your pocket. Siri can for the most part quickly get you whatever you want, just by talking to her. Don’t get cocky thought, Siri likes to dish out some sarcastic answers when she feels apropriate.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I never thought I would find myself saying this but I do like this phone. I know Andy has been waiting to hear me say that for a year now. The apps run great, there is really no lag at all when scrolling through screens and this phone has awesome battery life. There is also what seems like an unlimited amount of accessories for these phones. If you already use iTunes to deal with your music then you are set. It took me a little bit to get iTunes set up the way I wanted, but once it was, the music transfer was quick smooth and flawless.

Overall Apple fans will love this phone and converts from dumb phones or other brands will probably be very happy also.
