LightLoad TowelsUltraLight Towels’ Light Load Towels packs are great little compacted towels that go everywhere you do and come in sizes just smaller than a bandanna up to a full-sized beach towel. The Light Load Towels were definitely something up my alley – anyone who knows me knows I have a signature look: always a bandanna on my head and a backpack on my back. Plainly put, I get into a lot of adventures and a lot of messes. I’ve carried a small towel in my stuff previously but ditched the idea when it took up too much room in my bag and often my bandanna doubles as a towel. How annoying is this! I need it on my head to protect my scalp from the elements. So, Light Load Towels are certainly for me.

Now the website UltraLight Towels.com lists a myriad of uses for the compact little rounds but I carried a 12×12″ towel with me for a day to see just how useful it could be. As it turns out, my Light Load Towels kept my face from freezing in 10 degree weather on my way to coop my chickens, was a very handy on-the-fly towel for washing vegetables, wicked the water off my dog when he came in from some extended snow play, and held just enough water to ‘dry-bathe’ my elderly cat who had drooled all over herself.

LightLoad Towels

LightLoad Towels You don’t have to actually wet the Light Load Towels to unroll them- I pulled this one out without difficulty, it was just wrinkled. The fabric is like a microfiber towel and as I state in my video, the instructions say to wet it to soften but I found that if using like I was to run out in the cold and shield my face, it wasn’t practical. I did later wet it and it smoothed out very nicely but took a lot longer than I’d imagined to dry fully. It’s also a hand-wash item but after cooking for a couple of hours and using it to keep my hands dry and dry off washed produce, I tossed it in the washer with our tea-towels not thinking and it did survive okay- just pilled a little. The Light Load Towel is pretty sturdy- though I don’t have a great amount of hand strength I wasn’t able to stretch or tear it purposely.

As far as convenience goes, Light Load Towels are an awesome size to pop in a purse, backpack or pocket and I may keep the other one in the pack in my chicken first aid kit to wrap injuries in future. I would say these are great for travel, either in the car or plane and definitely a must to carry for hand drying in restrooms where towels may not be available. I give them a thumbs up!
