n the market for a new smartphone.? Not sure what to get? Check out our review of the Pixel 3 XL and hopefully we can help you decide.
First off the Pixel 3 XL has a 6.3 inch display so this phone is not for the feint of heart. While it is still large, it fits comfortably in your hand. It’s very easy to set up and if you are a Android fan, very intuitive to use. Still interested? Lets get into it.
As we said the screen is a 6.3Inch AMOLED screen. It has a resolution of 1440 X 2960. It also has a pixel density of 552ppi. What does this mean for you? It means you are going to have one of the, if not the most clear screen on the market. The glass of the screen is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which gives your screen extra protections from breaking. With this screen you can easily watch movies or YouTube videos to pass the time at work.
The Google Pixel 3 XL is powered by a Snapdragon Octa-core processor with an Adreno 630 GPU. This is the same chip powering the Samsung Note9. There is 4GB of RAM to keep the phone running smoothly. For storage, you can choose from either 64GB or 128GB. There is no microSD slot to have additional storage. The battery is a 3430 mAh and will keep your phone charged for between 8-10 hours during out testing. You can charge the Pixel 3 XL either with the USB-C or with QI Wireless Charging.
The Google Pixel 3 XL has a 12.2 MP camera that features Optical image stabilization, phase detection, and autofocus. The Apeture size is F1.8. There is also a Dual Flash. The Pixel 3 XL can take up to 4K video at 30 FPS or 720p at 240FPS. The front facing camera is an 8MP Dual camera with autofocus. This makes the phone great for your Facebook Live videos. Also great for keep up to date with your friends and family who are far away.
Google assistant is one of the main features on the Pixel Phone. With the Pixel 3 XL accessing the Google Assistant is as easy as squeezing your phone. Hold the phone in your hand, squeeze, and up pops the Assistant ready for you to use. To secure your phone, the Pixel has a finger print scanner on the back of the phone. The phone has Bluetooth 5.0, haptic feedback, WiFi 802.11 a,b,g,n, and ac. Wireless screen share and active noise cancellation via a second microphone.
The Google Pixel 3 XL is a great phone that works well, has great battery life, that can get you through the business day. The easy access to the Google Assistant is also a big plus. Two downsides I found to this is the lack of microSD card slot. You do have the option to store your files and pictures on Google Cloud but I personally prefer having the extra space on my phone for movies and photos. Also, and this is my personal preference, I miss the edge screen that is on the Samsung phones.
Overall, if you are in the market for a new Android device, and want one that is running Android 9.0, the Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 3 might just be what your are looking for. Head over to your local Verizon Wireless Retailer, play with the phone for a bit, and let us know if you agree with our review.
